Brannavan Gnanalingam is a Wellington-based author and lawyer. He has written six novels, including Sprigs (2020) and Sodden Downstream (2017), both finalists for the Jann Medlicott Acorn Foundation Fiction Prize at the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards, and A Briefcase, Two Pies and a Penthouse (2016), which was longlisted. He is also a regular columnist for the Sunday Star-Times.
Every writer brings their own experiences to their writing, but Brannavan's life has been particularly varied, adventurous and intriguing. His work does not flinch from difficult issues, but it's peppered with humour and shows a mastery of Kiwi idiom.
At QWF Brannavan will talk with local teacher Amanda Robinson. Amanda is an English teacher and a long-time admirer of Brannavan's work. She will talk to Brannavan about his writing career and the importance in his writing of a sense of place .
