BWN lunch with Coroner Donna Llewell: SOLD OUT

Appointed to the bench of the Coroners Court in April 2020, Coroner Llewell is based in Rotorua and serves the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions.

A Coroner investigates the cause and circumstances of sudden, unexplained and specified deaths and can make recommendations to reduce the chances of further deaths occurring in similar circumstances.

Prior to coronial appointment, Donna was the inaugural In-House Legal Counsel for the Bay of Plenty Regional Council / Toi Moana. She has 24 years of practical legal and litigation experience in Courts of special jurisdictions in her roles as Crown Counsel and Senior Solicitor with the Department of Conservation / Te Papa Atawhai. Her specialist legal career involved Resource Management and Planning Law, Local Government, Public Law, Environmental and Treaty of Waitangi issues. Her Master in Laws from the University of South Pacific was conferred in 2008.
