Nicola is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast and General Surgeon with appointments at Tauranga Hospital, Grace Hospital, Tauranga Specialist Centre and BreastScreen. She graduated from Auckland Medical School with MBChB and undertook surgical training in New Zealand, obtaining FRACS in 2016.
Following this, she spent two years in Australia obtaining further training and experience in oncoplastic breast surgery prior to her return to Tauranga.
Traditionally surgery has been considered a male domain. Currently, women make up 60% of medical school graduates but only 11% of the surgical workforce. In her talk, Nicola will explore the reasons behind the low number of female surgeons, barriers females face in the surgical workforce and positive changes that are being made.
Join us for a light lunch and a chance to network. Doors open from 12 noon.
