The Canterbury Duathlon Series 2021 is being held at Brookside Park in Rolleston. This great Series will still have the Short and Long Course events and will cater for everyone form beginner to the Elite Athlete.
With thousands of people having taken part in this event over the last 13-years, we are excited with the changes and what the new course and location will bring.
Race 1: Sunday 13th June 2020
Race 2: Sunday 27th June 2020
Race 3: Sunday 4th July 2020
This event caters for everyone; Young, Old, Male, Female, Big, Small, Fast or Slow. We have family sections.
The distances are all achievable with the run/walk in the enclosed area of Brookside Park, while the bike ride is around a block. No hills and very little traffic makes this such an appealing event. We reiterate that the long course is not to be walked because of time restraints of all competitors, any competitor wanting to walk the event, they should enter the short course.
The distances are Run/walk on a mix of surfaces, grass and seal. The first run/walk is a 2 or 4 laps of the 1.25km circuit, the bike ride is 14km loop course, with 1 lap for the short course and 2 for the long course. The last run/walk is an easy 1 or 2 lap of the 1.25km depending if you are doing the short or long course.
This is a great spectator course for husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend or any other friend to come along and watch.
Prize giving this year will be at the start/finish line and will be approximately 15 minutes after the last competitor has finished. We have some fantastic spot prizes again this year.
2021 is our 16th year of this great event.
Timeline:
Race Registration and Pack Pick up: 8:30am - 9:30am
Race Brief: 9:45am
Race Start: 10:00am
Prize giving will be 15 minutes after last competitor has finished, approx 12 noon.
First placegetters will be rewarded at each race in their respective categories.
First, second and third in the Series will be rewarded in their respective categories.
To receive both Category and Sport Prizes, competitors must be present at prize giving.
A Late Entry fee online will be charged from Midnight Thursday before each Race. Online entries will close from Noon on the Saturday before each Race. Late Entries will be taken on Race Day. All Late Entry Fees will be $10.00 more than Standard Entry Fees.
