Enjoy the exhilaration that comes from dancing through space with ease and confidence!

Contemporary dance is an accessible dance form that encourages both technique and creativity. Tutors bring their own personal movement vocabularies and choreographic styles, whilst teaching well-respected internationally-influenced techniques with a special New Zealand flavour.

This class is 'students only' to allow the students to retain focus and gain independence.

Teaching artist Jessie McCall is a freelance dancer, choreographer, teacher and producer. She graduated from Unitec with a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance, and studied contemporary technique and choreography at the University of North Carolina in the USA. She has choreographed work for Footnote Dance Company, Okareka Youth Project, Tempo Dance Festival, NZ Fringe & Auckland Arts Festival, as well as various independent works. Jessie is the founder of All You Can Eat Productions, Artistic Director of Pointy Dog Dance Company, and Curator of Short + Sweet Dance NZ. In addition to teaching at TAPAC, Jessie tutors contemporary dance at Unitec.

Co-tutor Presley Ziogas has a BPSA in Contemporary Dance from Unitec. Prior to her contemporary training, she represented New Zealand at the Hip Hop International World Championships and continues to bring her hip hop expertise into her contemporary work. Presley has danced with Atamira Dance Company, performing the lead role in their season of ‘Kotahi’, which opened the 2018 Tempo Dance Festival. She also participated in the development of and toured with Louise Potiki-Bryant’s original work ‘Onepu’. Presley was invited to understudy Sarah Foster Sproull's 2017 development and premiere season of ‘Orchids’, which she also toured with. Presley's choreographic work has been exhibited in various platforms such as Short + Sweet Dance Festival NZ. She is a guest tutor for TAPAC’s contemporary and ballet classes.
