The building that is now known as the Pegasus Arms was built in 1852, and was used as a doctor’s surgery and residence for over 50 years. Underground Overground Archaeology recently carried out excavations associated with the site, and in the process discovered a large assemblage of medicinal related artefacts.
This exhibition displays some of those artefacts and explores what healthcare and medicine was like in nineteenth-century Christchurch.
