This summer visit Whakatiwai to Experience Ecology in Action with us!

The EcoQuest Education Foundation summer program is the perfect summer adventure for senior high school students with an interest in the environment, conservation, and ecology. This is a 5 day program.

Each day participants will learn about local ecological monitoring from our experienced lecturers. Participants will explore local landscapes and practise monitoring skills first-hand. They will get to enjoy a variety of exciting activities: bat tracking, acoustic monitoring, map compass GPS navigation, invertebrate sampling, and shorebird observations. In this fun hand’s on program, students experience real time practical research, and get a taste for the work involved in environmental fields.

We will look after our participants:
Transport to the EcoQuest Field Centre will be organised from Auckland, Hamilton, and Thames. Accommodation is comfortable shared rooms for 2-3 people. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided. All dietary requirements such as vegan, gluten free, dairy free and allergies can be catered for. As we would usually be operating a study abroad program for international students all of our staff are very experienced with looking after students that are far from home.

The EcoQuest field centre is one hour's drive south of Auckland. The centre is situated on three acres of seaside property on the western shore of Tikapa Moana the Firth of Thames, in the settlement of Whakatiwai, nearly three kilometres north of Kaiaua. This rural-coastal location is at the centre of a range of ecological, commercial, recreational, and cultural landscapes, and activities.

Each program is strictly limited to 20 participants – book early to avoid disappointment.
