An inside chat with Nom*D's founder and designer Margarita Robertson

Margarita is a Dunedin fashion icon and is credited with helping define 'the New Zealand Look'.

She's placed her distinctive mark on the New Zealand fashion industry since the 1970s and has played a leading role in taking the extraordinary design culture of Dunedin to the world.

Margarita combines conceptual design conventions, an edgy aesthetic, with references to vintage items and fabrications. This anti-consumer, make-do and mend mindset, designs that reject the mainstream and are unapologetically cool are firmly rooted in our city's scarfie soul. Her shop, Plume, is an iconic Dunedin boutique, where women have been shopping for decades, finding brands not available everywhere and fashion that is fresh.

This talk will be a Q&A, hosted by Jane Malthus, one of New Zealand's dress and textile experts, this is a rare opportunity for an intimate discussion with Dunedin's Queen of Cool.
