In this fireside armchair talk, Margaret Lovell-Smith looks at some underlying questions about Kate Sheppard and her work: What were the qualities that made her a successful leader? What was her motivation to work for justice and equality for women and how did she sustain this work over many years?

Margaret is a historian and author with a particular interest in the nineteenth-century women’s movement. She is a descendant of Kate Sheppard's second husband, William Lovell-Smith.

Join us at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House on Sunday afternoons at 2.30pm for a Fireside Lecture Series: 25 July - 22 August 2021.
