This drawing workshop is for anybody who wants to discover their creative abilities or develop existing skills in drawing. All levels are welcome, from experienced to beginners.

So much more than a basic drawing class, come along for this opportunity to explore the fundamentals of drawing and learn about proportion, composition, value, focus and edges. Discover different drawing mediums, styles and techniques and experiment in a positive, relaxed setting.

Whether seeking foundational skills or wishing to shake things up a bit, this drawing course is for you! Topics include basic drawing techniques and materials, understanding perspective and translating three-dimensional objects onto the page, value organisation, edges and composition.

Each lesson will focus on a different principle, which I will demonstrate and take the rest of the class through, in a step by step manner - completing a different piece of art each lesson. I discuss my process and answer questions while I work, taking you through the stages of drawing and blocking in tone, to the finished artwork.

The focus will be on learning a clear and reliable process to get consistently good results - a strong framework you can experiment within.
- proportion
- setting up a composition
- preliminary drawing
- shapes and how they relate to each other
- lighting
- perspective and creating depth
- soft/hard edges

I've been working as a portraitist for five years, as well as exhibiting my own work. After finishing my studies at animation college, I've spent the last two years tutoring adults and children in art and more recently leading workshops at Selwyn College.

Please bring: A3 paper, 2B / 4B pencils and Charcoal.

Numbers are limited to ensure personal tuition. Hurry to book by e-mailing Heather at admin@artistsfellowship.nz
