Come socialise with other Fortnite gamers and meet one of the top gamers in New Zealand, get a free haircut and learn about the world of a sneakerhead.

Ever dreamed of being one of the best Fortnite players? Love sneakers? Want to get a fresh (free) fade?

The National Library has partnered up with Arepa Gamers Club to bring you Fortnite, fades and kicks!

See one of New Zealand’s top Fortnite players Jahlyn Evernden in action playing live on our auditorium screen, hear their stories and get some tips. Anyone attending goes in the draw to play alongside Jahlyn!

Meet Sneakerhead Sean Aickin, check out a few favourites from his collection, and hear about some of his most epic purchases. Sean will be interviewed by our resident collecting enthusiast Librarian Ulu Afaese who is a content anaylst for the incredible Pacific Virtual Museum.
Get your hair cut by the barbers from Who’s Next. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. If you want to get your haircut, you’ll need to bring your parent or caregiver.
Arepa Gamers Club will be running VR gaming stations, a PS4 racing rig station and PS console gaming area. Free for all to play.

Kickflip pizza will be there serving up delicious pizza.

Sean Aickin’s day job is Chief of Splendid Photo, which he loves. He’s an awesome photographer in his own right. Something else he loves is sneakers, and he owns more than 180 pairs! Some of the more notable pairs include a pair of Air Max 90s signed by Dizzee Rascall, the original RUN DMC x adidas Ultrastars, a pair of adidas x Kanye West, and the unreleased adidas x Beastie Boys Superstars — made exclusively for the 35th anniversary of the Superstar in 2005. He is indeed a dedicated sneaker head.
