Darkroom and RDU 98.5 FM present the latest seminar in their series of free, informal, peer-run artist development sessions. July's topic is Intro to Live Sound, with guest speaker Marcus Winstanley.
Ever wanted to play round with a mixing desk? Here's your opportunity to give the role of sound person a go!
In this seminar, we will go through the process of soundcheck for a four-piece band - mixing drums, guitar, bass and vocals. We'll cover everything from setting up backline, and microphones and mic placement, to using a modern digital mixing desk to check each instrument, and apply gates, compressors, EQ and effects to ultimately create a monitor mix, and an overall FOH mix. The seminar will start with a bit of a talk and demonstration before you get to take turns driving the desk.
7pm doors, seminar kicks off 7:30pm.
It's free to attend and we'll even provide free snacks! The bar will be open if you want to buy a drink.
This project is made possible thanks to the generous support of New Zealand Music Commission's Capability Grants Programme.
Please note Darkroom is an R18 premises, if under 18s wish to attend they must be accompanied by a parent or court-appointed caregiver.
