The morning will commence with a programme of music from the Jade String Quartet – APO players and long-time friends of the Friends.

Begun in 2003, Jade has a CD of New Zealand works on the RATTLE label, two AOTNZ tours (2007 and 2009) and one CMNZ tour to its name. Jade have had their own concert series, Jade at the Pah, and will continue to perform concerts at the Pah Homestead and other venues in the region for the foreseeable future.

Playing an eclectic mix of music for string quartet ranging from Vivaldi to Hendrix, Jade have won a special place in NZ’s music scene, as a group that can cater for both young and old, traditional and modern tastes alike, all with a musical passion that is rarely seen. They have commissioned and premiered many NZ works by composers.

Based in Auckland, New Zealand the players are Miranda Adams, violin. Liu-Yi Retallick, violin. Robert Ashworth, viola, and Chen Cao on cello.

This will be followed by an interview with Tony Waring, “Chauffeur to the Stars” and APO Marketing Manager for 5 years in the 1990s. Originally from Coventry, in the UK, Tony was educated at Caludon Castle School, Napier Boys High and Massey University. After a lifetime of management experience Tony became a freelance chauffeur driving businesspeople, tourists, and APO Artists in his BMW 730L. Driving for the APO has been a great combination of Tony’s APO and Hotel business experience. This will be a great interview.

The morning will conclude with a light lunch.
