Join us on an Urban Hīkoi led by people who have lived experience of sleeping rough. Over the course of our gentle walk the guides will share stories about sleeping, eating, washing, storing belongings and reveal a few of the enterprising things that the unhoused community do.
At the end of the hīkoi you are invited to join out guides for lunch at Merge Cafe, a community cafe supporting the unhoused community run by Lifewise. Bring cash – you may be hustled as we walk and if you’re staying for lunch you’ll need to pay for that.
Duration: 90 mins
Meets: Where Poynton Tce intersects with St Kevins Arcade steps
Access: The beginning of the walk is below the St Kevins Arcade Stairs and requires walking up them, the remainder of the walk is wheel accessible. Please contact margaretl@lifewise.org.nz to discuss options.
