Hands-on Workshop

As part of our Full STE(a)M Ahead project funded by Unlocking Curious Minds, Otago Museum is bringing GirlBossNZ back to Dunedin to help us celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

This action-packed workshop is aimed at Year 7 – 10 girls who have an interest in STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, Maths) and is led by 21-year-old Alexia Hilbertidou. Alexia was recognised as the 2016 Westpac Woman of Influence Young Leader, a 2018 Queen’s Young Leader, and the recipient of the Prime Minister's Pacific Youth Award 2019.

Alexia is an experienced facilitator who will inspire greatness, confidence and resilience in your students. Thousands of young women have participated in her workshops, and the results speak for themselves: 95% of attendees have more confidence and 90% are inspired to lead their own community project.

This workshop will help girls to learn about and explore the impact they can have in the field of STEAM. It is an inspiring, interactive workshop for those who want to make a positive change in their communities, and maximise their impact through science and technology. All participants receive the merchandise and free membership to GirlBoss.

Please Note: This workshop is held during the school day, so we encourage interested parties to speak to their teachers about booking in a group of up to 4 students.

To book tickets:
Please email Jessa Barder at jessa.barder@otagomuseum.nz with the participant’s name, year, and emergency contact as well as your name and contact phone number. Space is limited, and bookings will close once maximum capacity is reached, so we recommend getting your booking in as soon as possible.
