Join iconic Kiwi trio The BeatGirls this Anzac Day as they bring you ‘In the Mood’, a tribute to the war songs of the 30’s and 40’s.

Celebrating their 25th birthday this April The BeatGirls promise to thoroughly entertain as they sing and dance their way through 80 mins of toe tapping classics.

Songs such as We’ll Meet Again, It’s a Long Way to Tipperary and Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye guarantee to get the audience singing along, complimented by a slide show of moving footage and advertisements of the time.

Show producer and lead singer Andrea Sanders says ‘In the Mood’ is a means of paying their respects to those who served their country in the way they know best and that’s through music.

“We aim to get people feeling uplifted on an otherwise sombre day. Music was a very important medium during WW’s 1 and 2, capturing people’s spirits with many optimistic lyrics and happy melodies, lending hope to not only the troops but those at home.

We’ve found that many feel moved by the music in this show, it’s a poignant trip down memory lane featuring the hits and wonderful three part harmonies of The Andrews Sisters along with Glenn Miller, Vera Lynn and more.

We first performed ‘In the Mood’ at Southwards in 2019, it went really well and we were booked in for 2020 but had to postpone. We are very excited to bring the show back in 2021”.

Joining Andrea on stage are fellow BeatGirls Melanie Golding and Carrie McLaughlin with special guest MC and Otaki local Jeff Kingsford Brown.

So, get in the mood and head to Southwards this Anzac Day!
