A free introductory improv class suitable for any level of improv experience, including none at all. Over two hours we'll sample some of the ways a group can work together to tell stories and build theatre. Expect drama type games and exercises and gentle general improvisation for everyone to join in on. There might also be some taking turns to perform in front of the group, but no one has to get up to do that if they don't want to.

Improv equips you with skills that are useful at work or school, telling stories, on stage following a script or performing standup comedy, in an emergency, at a pub quiz, and any other time you need to think on your feet or work with a team.

It is also a great way to relax with other lovely people.

This session will be led by Ali Little, who has been part of the Wellington improv scene for years as a performer and teacher, including teaching improv to adults through the Wellington Community Education Centre, with the Wellington Improvisation Troupe (WIT), and as convener of the Wellington Improv Meetup. She's also devised, performed in and produced improv shows, including at the NZ Improv Festival, the Wellington Fringe Festival, and the International Comedy Festival. Ali recently moved to Featherston, and is interested to see if there's any interest from interesting people in forming a group to train and eventually perform improvised theatre in the Wairarapa.

This workshop is aimed at adults, but if you're 12-16 you're welcome so long as you don't mind being treated as an adult, and you bring a chronologically adult to keep an eye on things (ideally someone willing to join in too).
