The Studio Italia | Italian Film Festival NZ warmly invites you to the screening of blockbuster comedy film 'I Hate Summer' by Massimo Veniere.

The three lead protagonists in I Hate Summer are well-loved comedians in Italy, and it proves pretty hard not like these guys. Their laid-back performance style allows the comedy to come from characterisation without ever forcing gags. They seem so believable in their roles that one suspects they have taken their own personal traits as a foundation to these characters. The wealthy city dentist disconnected from his son, the uptight artisan facing financial problems, and the hypochondriac that shirks work at every opportunity, all find themselves trapped together with their families and pets. This is the very Italian story of families from different social, economic and cultural strata forced by circumstance to share a holiday. The ensuing cultural clashes and scenarios range from the ridiculous to the poignant. The August holidays in Italy are sacrosanct, and no one will stop the families from having their time in the sun. This uproarious comedy possesses real heartfelt and intelligent layers underneath the chuckles and smiles. In the depth of our New Zealand winter, a sunny trip with Aldo, Giovanni, and Giacomo will be sure to restore all your Vitamin D.

I can see why this was such a successful feel-good film at the Box office in Italy.
