Josh Emett made his name internationally as an acclaimed Michelin-starred chef, but his love of food started as a 12-year-old, when he regularly baked for his siblings on the family dairy farm in the Waikato.

Josh spent 10 career-defining years working for Gordon Ramsay in London, New York, Los Angeles and Melbourne, with his Michelin stars collected along the way, alongside an outstanding reputation.

In 2011 Josh ventured into a new arena, taking on a TV role as a judge for Masterchef New Zealand, completing five seasons of the hit show and becoming a household name across the country.

Josh has made his mark on the New Zealand restaurant scene, opening his first restaurant, Rata, in Queenstown in 2012, with business partner Fleur Caulton. In 2013 he was appointed Food Director of Ostro, in Auckland’s Britomart. In 2014 Josh and Fleur opened a casual Malaysian restaurant, Madam Woo, also in Queenstown. In February 2020 Josh took ownership of iconic Waiheke restaurant, The Oyster Inn, and in October 2020 he opened Onslow, his first venture with his wife Helen, and the first where he’s taken an idea from inception through to completion. In a landmark location in the heart of the Auckland CBD, Onslow has already gained a very loyal following and received rave reviews.

Josh has published three cookbooks, the latest being The Recipe, the ultimate companion for the home cook and including over 300 recipes and contributions from 150 of the world’s best chefs and cooks.

Don’t miss Josh at Rapaura Springs Garden Marlborough, where he’ll deliver a live cooking demonstration, cooking some of his favourite recipes using local ingredients and sharing plenty of tips along the way. There’ll also be time for questions and a book signing.
