The best teams from 15 regional heats will play-off to decide the national winner of the Kids’ Lit Quiz™.
Literary competition for years 6-8 students.
The Kids’ Lit Quiz™ is a literary competition for students in years 6-8. Students, in teams of four, read widely for pleasure and then are quizzed on their knowledge of titles, authors, mythology, graphic novels, poetry, folklore and more. The National winning team is then invited to the World Final. Eleven countries across five continents participate.
Over 2000 kids from across NZ enter the regional events annually. The quiz celebrates its 30th year in 2021. Last year’s winning team was from Havelock North Intermediate. As there is no reading list, students must read widely across all genres.
About the compere.
The quiz is compered by Wayne Mills a former senior lecturer at the University of Auckland. He was awarded the Margaret Mahy Medal in 2008 and awarded the NZ Order of Merit in 2011.
