Johann Sebastian Bach, born 336 years ago, is arguably the most important figure in classical music if not all music. Writing at least 3,000 compositions while holding down a number of jobs, he also had a busy domestic life. The essence of what makes Bach the greatest, lies in the way he combines technical precision with very considerable emotion. His music is wise and witty and contains a multitude of everything. When it comes to music Bach has given us everything. Signing off his music with the initials SDG ‘Soli Deo Gloria’ ‘To God alone be glory’.
The programme will include chorale preludes, Fantasia in G major and a Partita.
