The Waitaki Whitestone Geopark presents:

Macraes - A history from the start of time

Join us to learn more about the geology of the gold bearing rock, the gold rush history at Macraes and the mining process at today's gold mine in Macraes.

A presentation by Amber Daniels.
Amber is one of two senior mine geologists in the open pit team at OceanaGold in Macraes. The key components of a production geologist is to define the boundaries between the gold bearing rock and the waste rock. Amber had always enjoyed being outside so she decided on a geology degree at the University of Otago in Dunedin, where she grew up.

Please note that events will be postponed during Covid-19 Alert Level 2 or higher.
