RESTORATION performs works by three of the greatest masters of the baroque – Telemann's overture-suite based on the zany characters of the commedia dell'arte, Bach's beautiful F minor harpsichord concerto in a new (but also old!) reconstruction, and Handel's concerto that he reworked for strings from some of his greatest theatrical triumphs, Alcina, Terpsicore, Parnasso in Festa and Athalia.

Seating is very limited - bookings essential. Ample parking available, or a short walk from bus 3,7, or 1

RESTORATION:
Bronwen Pugh, Graham McPhail – baroque violins
Alison Salmons – baroque viola
Emma Goodbehere – baroque cello
Eric Scholes – violone
Robert Petre – harpsichord

RESTORATION is one of New Zealand’s most experienced and accomplished baroque ensembles. The members of the group have been working together over many years in concerts, tours and recordings, and collaborating with numerous visiting and local artists specializing in the performance of baroque music and dance using the original instruments, styles and techniques of the time. The group’s guiding principle is that this music speaks most directly to us with its original voice and inflections, and that modern audiences need no compromises to modern tastes and demands, to gain the greatest enjoyment and enlightenment from this window into the wonderfully foreign world of the past.
