Put on your PJ’s, and bring your torches and teddy bears down to Otago Museum for a Monster pyjama party to kick off the school holidays and celebrate our new and amazing Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Ocean Predators Exhibition.

Exploring the Museum at night is a magical experience for Dunedin’s children, and this year it will be better than ever. Explore our galleries and the monsters that hide in them, see our new Tūhura Deep Dive science show and watch a live dissection! There will be surprises, challenges, games, crafts, and science experiments tucked around every corner.

You can uncover stories and juicy facts about some of the most interesting items in our collection with costumed staff in our galleries, make a sea monster at our mini Makerspace, and have a bounce on our SpongeBob bouncy castle!

There'll be spot prizes for all sorts of things, so make sure to wear your best monster-y outfit or favourite pyjamas, and don’t forget to have a boogie at our Monster Disco!

The Café and Shop will be open for snacks and shopping, we’ll have nitrogen ice cream and sea monster balloons for sale, and free face painting too! Be one of the first to visit our Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Predators exhibition – open late for one night only! – at an additional cost of $10 per person.

This is a night that your child will remember. Tickets sell out quickly every year, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Please note, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
