Language socials, every Thursday night at El Barrio from 7pm!

Who we are:

We're a group of around 100 people from a variety of different countries that meet every week to chat, meet new people, and practice speaking another language.

We show what languages we speak/want to practice with flag stickers from over 150 countries/regions. The first flag is your native language and goes at the top. The rest follow in order of ability. It's open to all nationalities and languages and you can talk about anything you like. You don't have to be an advanced speaker, or even speak a second language – it's for all levels!

Thursday event:

We meet every Thursday at El Barrio, 35 Dixon St in the CBD. When you arrive, go upstairs and look for the flag table right beside the stairs. Tell us which languages you speak and we'll get you started!

The Reception: 7pm - 9pm

It is not obligatory to arrive at this time but we recommend it, especially if it's your first time.
Entry will always be free. If you like what we do, support us by buying a drink from the bar!

Please remember the bar is a public place and you are responsible for your personal possessions.

COVID-19 guidance:

If you are feeling unwell, please stay home – we'll catch you when you're feeling better. We encourage everyone to wash their hands regularly and sign in to the bar using the NZ COVID Tracer app upon arrival. Please note that the social will only go ahead under Alert Level 1, or any comparable level where there are no restrictions on indoor gatherings.
