In this 2 1/2 hour online session, certified nature therapy guide Linda Carson will offer you a series of invitations to help you slow down, tune into your senses, and reconnect with nature.

This event is accessible to anyone with a device and internet connection.

What is nature therapy?

Nature therapy is a practice that supports the wellbeing of both people and the planet. It is designed to help people experience the health benefits of spending time in nature while exploring their relationship with their self, other people and the rest of the natural world.

Nature therapy was inspired by several wellness traditions, including the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku or forest bathing, and incorporates recent medical research and developments in the field of nature connection.

How does a remotely guided session work?

You will interact with your guide and other participants through an online Zoom call. You can join from anywhere that you will be physically safe and comfortable and can use any device with internet access. You could join from a local park or nature reserve, your garden, your verandah or even from indoors.

If you will be indoors, try to have access to an open window and some objects from nature, for instance a pot plant, leaves, stones or shells.

You won't be looking at a screen the whole time - after an introduction and a guided meditation you will have several opportunities to explore your surroundings or engage with nature objects. You will just need to stay within earshot of your device so your guide can call you and the group back together. Between each invitation, participants will come together and share a few words, if they choose to. At the conclusion of the session, you will have time to reflect and chat with the guide and other participants.

Preparing for the session

Make sure you have downloaded the Zoom app on your device before the session begins and have sufficient mobile data or a stable internet connection.

Dress appropriately for the location you have chosen. If you will be outdoors make sure you have sun and/or rain protection and are aware of any potential hazards. If you will be indoors gather some nature objects, e.g. a pot plant, leaves, stones or shells.

You may like to bring a drink and some snacks for the conclusion of the session. (Not that you need to save them if you get thirsty or hungry!)
