Hīkoi to discover the treasures of nature.

Join Riki Bennett (Te Arawa, Ngati Porou) for a special ngahere (forest) experience. Riki’s love for the taiao (nature) shines through as he seeks to explore the ngahere in a traditional Māori way.

A park ranger, musician, and environmental educator, Riki’s deep knowledge of the ngahere allows him to interpret signs of the maramataka (Māori calendar) and connect to Ngā taonga o te taiao (the treasures of the nature). Through kōrero, hīkoi (guided walk), taonga puoro (traditional musical instruments) and kai, you will feel as if you are experiencing the forest through ancient eyes.

Our hīkoi will conclude around the ahi (fire) for shared kai.
