Free Japanese films shown at Massey University (SNW100:Sir Neil Waters Lecture Theatre 100) are usually screened on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 pm and are preceded by a documentary about Japanese culture from 6:15 pm.

- All films have English subtitles.

August film: "Nobody to Watch Over Me "
(2009, 118min. Rating : M)

A deep drama depicting the fears of a modern day society, it portrays the distress of the family of a juvenile criminal and the conflicts of the detective ordered to protect them. The Funamura family is the target of mass media attention after their first son commits an act of murder.

Furthermore, every move detective Katsuura takes in protecting the bewildered daughter of the family, Saori, is being fully exposed over the internet. In a deadly game of hide and seek, will Katsuura and Saori be freed from the malicious attempts of internet critics?
