Open Water Scuba Diver - 3 Day course. Join New Zealand Diving and learn to Scuba Dive.

You may have gone swimming in the ocean or snorkeled over a reef, but now, it is time to take it one step further. See the underwater world as it is meant to be experienced – underwater. Become a part of an eco-system that supports so much, and take it to your limits; whether it is interacting with colourful schools of fish over a peaceful sea mount or diving alongside a pod of dolphins that have come to take a closer look at you. Dive with sharks, dive in caves or dive some of the most historic wrecks. Whatever direction you may want to take your new life-style, it all begins here.

The Open Water course is an entry-level certification course designed to give you the necessary skills to safely conduct open water dives. Some of the skills you will learn include buoyancy, proper weighting, marine conservation, equipment assembly, proper dive planning, and maintenance. It covers all the basic knowledge about equipment, physiology and the marine environment while training students to perform basic skills underwater.

3 x days full gear hire for the course
2 x dives in the marine reserves from a charter boat
2 x shore dives
Pool sessions
Online E-learning theory - study in the comfort of your own home.
Open Water Course certification is awarded on satisfaction of your instructor

You must be able to swim 200m, or snorkel 300m (mask, snorkel and fins only – no wetsuit allowed), tread water for 10mins in water too deep to stand up, and be 18 years of age or older.

Check you are medically fit to dive with the Diver Medical Questionnaire. If you answer yes to any question on the form you need to get a medical clearance from your doctor. Some pre-existing medical conditions (eg asthma, heart conditions, etc) may prevent you from diving, please consult your doctor.

If you have any questions please call, email or stop by our Dive Centre and we will provide you with our full schedule and address details.
