Ōtautahi Rollers: Speed Skating Club has been set up as one of the skating sports under the umbrella of Ōtautahi Rollers. Ōtautahi Rollers has been established for over 10 years and has really grown in recent years to include Learn to Skate sessions, Junior Roller Derby and Roller Discos.
Our speed skating club is a brand new club to Christchurch and offers children and adults of all abilities the opportunity to learn to skate in a fun and social environment. Whether you just want the enjoyment of skating, the great fitness it gives you, or the opportunity to compete at local, national or international level, we offer it all.
Speed skating is broken down into 3 elements; road racing, banked track racing and flat track racing (indoors). It can range from 100m time trials right through to marathon racing, not to mention the ever fun relay racing.
Training takes place weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4.00-5.00pm at the Hagley Netball Courts. An indoor training venue is TBC.
So, why don't you come along and find out for yourself? You just need your own pair of inline skates, a bike helmet and gloves and we will teach you the rest.
