Explore sustainability in our lives, homes and society through pragmatic physical and theoretical design solutions, beginning in your own backyard. This course is delivered online via Zoom.
What started off as ‘consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature’, permaculture has now expanded out into a global phenomenon that leads the forefront of innovation in sustainability and regenerative focused living.

In this course, you will learn about the ethics and principles of permaculture, design as systems thinking, and how to apply these practices in your life. You'll also learn about ecology and the systems that support life, including nested ecosystems, climate, bioregions and permaculture as the ‘Cultivated Ecology’. After looking at the broader lens and landscape of what it means to live in this wonderful natural world we address the practicality of aligning ourselves with these systems. Paying particular attention to growing food, ethical and effective gardening (including soil cultivation, water storage and management) and meeting our needs within our bioregion. Finally, using this lens to re-approach invisible structures to address economic and social wellbeing in a holistic manner.

This online course takes place via Zoom. You will be sent a Zoom meeting link prior to the course by your tutors, Guy and Toad. The classes are at the scheduled time and day each week for 4 weeks. It is your responsibility when you enrol to ensure you have an adequate Internet connection and computing device to participate in an online Zoom-based course.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

- Define systems thinking and utilise permaculture ethics and principles to develop sustainable designs of your own.
- Identify aspects of climate, ecology, ecological succession, climate and recognise where you belong in these systems.
- Perform a landscape analysis and be able to grow food in a variety of manners while rebuilding natural resources.
- Recognise and implement permaculture approaches to economic and social systems.
- Regenerate your soil health and increase biodiversity.

Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly. If you need to cancel your registration, here are our terms and conditions: "What You Need to Know".
