Understanding light and shadow through your camera lens.

This short one-day course will help you to understand how your camera ‘sees’ light and shadow and help you to make beautifully lit compositions. What our eyes see and what the camera records are two different things – this one day course will help you translate what you see into photographs.

Napier Artist and Photographer Anneliese Hough will guide you through 3-4 exercises as a group and individually, discussing the results as you go. The focus will be on light awareness and understanding, composition and ways to manipulate lighting without fancy equipment.

Suitable for total beginners, or someone who just wants to brush up on exposure knowledge – each task can be adjusted to your skill level.

What to Bring: You will need a digital SLR camera. If you wish to bring a laptop and have photo-editing software, you are welcome to bring it along, but it is not essential. It is really helpful if you can bring along the instruction booklet for your camera so we can discuss any settings particular to your camera which you can note. You will also need coins for parking, your lunch or snacks, and a gold coin for a cuppa at CAN.

Pre-payment is required to secure your place on this popular course. Your place can be reserved for 48 hours while you organise confirmation with payment online using EV2142 and your name as a reference.
