Poetry at the Fringe

We’re glad to be back with our October programme after a Covid-induced pause. The afternoon starts with our ever-fabulous Open Mike session. Please try to arrive early so that we can get everyone seated and served before we start at 4pm. Our Guest Poet, performing from about 5.15pm, is the also-fabulous Rebecca Hawkes. She will share a preview from her first full-length book, Meat Lovers, a brutally tender collection of poetry on farming life and queer romances which is due out from AUP in early 2022. Rebecca’s writing has previously appeared in AUP New Poets 5 and a range of journals (from Starling to The Spinoff), and she has performed her poems regularly throughout the bookshops and bars of Wellington.
