Palmy's Plastic Pollution Challenge has been busy collecting litter samples from urban stream sites across Palmerston North City this autumn. Thanks to all of the individuals, community groups, work place volunteer groups, schools, Massey students and local Council staff teams that have helped out!
Following on from all this in-stream fun, the next phase of the PPPC citizen science project is the sorting and measuring of all of the samples.
We will be in the River Room at Te Manawa between 10.30 am - midday and 1.30 pm - 3 pm on April 27, 28 and 29 and we'd love your help with sorting each individual sample into categories - and taking careful measurements of each category.
We hope participants will enjoy learning about the process of collecting and recording scientific data, and increase their awareness of urban litter in our waterways.
Bring the kids along, find out more about our project and get involved!
Note - we are also running public sorting sessions at Wildbase Recovery during the first week of the school holidays.
