Women who LEAD

They are extraordinary leaders; smart, brave, resilient and successful.

Driven by their values, using their talent and no strangers to hard work, these leading women are forging their own path, and paving the way for others.

Professionelle and ASB are delighted to bring you our first panel in this series on leadership, where you will hear from acting royalty, the most powerful woman in sport and a Judge who continues to break barriers.

This is an event that promises to be lively and inspirational; a rare and privileged insight into the professional lives and the personalities of three successful leaders.

Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Raelene Castle and Judge Soana Moala will join panel interviewer, Hannah Ockelford, to explore what it means to them to be a leader and how they use their power, authority and influence to effect positive change.

Jennifer Te Atamira Ward-Lealand
Jennifer is one of New Zealand’s most recognised and admired actors, having worked extensively in theatre, film, television and radio for 40 years. She is visible and influential across the industry and is a champion of te reo Māori. Jennifer has been honoured with an ONZM and a CNZM, a Woman of Influence Award (Arts & Culture) and was named ‘New Zealander of the Year’ in 2020.

Raelene Castle
Raelene is the high profile and recognisable Chief Executive of Sport New Zealand. She joined the organisation at the end of 2020 after seven years in Australia. There she held senior roles in male dominated sports, including Chief Executive of Rugby Australia. Raelene was honoured for her contribution to business and sport in 2015 with an ONZM.

Judge Soana Moala
Judge Moala is the first Tongan female appointed to the bench and has been resident at the Manukau District Court since 2016. Her formative years were spent as a senior crown prosecutor in Auckland, before establishing a successful firm in South Auckland. Judge Moala immigrated to New Zealand as a ten-year-old. She is passionate and outspoken about her community and the way justice is served.

Hannah Ockelford – Panel interviewer
Hannah spent the first twelve years of her career as a broadcast journalist, working for TV3, RNZ, Newstalk ZB but mostly for TVNZ, before transitioning into the corporate world. After five years in professional services she is now contracting, with panel interviewing one of her key interests.

Join this incredible panel and the Professionelle team to hear a candid insight into how these extraordinary women operate; what drives them, who do they look up to, what is next on their agenda.
