In this concert of contemporary art music, coupled with choral music, we explore Palmerston North and its dynamic heritage from the carving out of the gorge, right up to the present time.
Toi Warbrick (Warren and Virginia Warbrick) will perform songs from KONO: Song cycle of a new town, with ngā taonga pūoro (Māori musical instruments) and voice. KONO was performed at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and won local Fringe and Theatre awards.
The choir will perform songs composed by Palmerston North composers Graham Parsons, Manaaki Tibble and Helen Caskie; Wellington composer Pepe Becker and Auckland composer David Hamilton.
Accompanying the Choral Society will be Guy Donaldson, piano, with Lindsay Yeo, baritone.
