Dr Nabeel Zuberi is an Associate Professor in Media and Communication at the University of Auckland and has researched and written widely on popular music.

In this talk he asks if we are we really in the midst of a paradigm shift in listening to recorded music? With digital technologies and datafication of music often represented as the reasons for huge changes, Nabeel will address anxieties about ubiquitous music, and questions some of the pessimism and hype about new technologies.

This public lecture is part of the Raising the Bar event, presented by the University of Auckland. Leading academics share their latest scientific research in Auckland bars. 20 talks take place in 10 Auckland central bars on one night.

This event is free but attendees must register in advance. Also speaking at this location at 6:30 pm is Professor Steven Dakin is Head of the School of Optometry.
