Some 40 years since American college band R.E.M. set out on their road to global stardom, and 10 years since they decided to call it a day, a group of five musos from Taranaki are playing their biggest hits to audiences across the North Island.

For those of us who’ve forgotten, REMember R.E.M. are gearing up to jog our memories with a setlist full of their most popular songs.

Think Losing My Religion, Everybody Hurts, Drive, Man On The Moon and Shiny Happy People. And for those of us with a few more years on the clock, cast your minds back to Stand, The One I Love and the ultra-frenetic It’s The End Of The World As We Know It.

The New Plymouth-based tribute act are looking forward to bringing their show to The Globe in Palmerston North.

“In the time we’ve been doing this we’ve found that R.E.M.’s back catalogue is widely known and lives strong with NZ music fans,” says REMember R.E.M. lead singer Nick Maybury.

“They’re a band whose songs still resonate and take you back to memorable times in your life. And on top of that their musicianship and songwriting was absolutely top drawer.

“It’s a huge thrill for us to be recreating these songs and we can’t wait to give Palmy locals a fantastic, and nostalgic, night out!”
