The special guest hails from Kaka Point near Balclutha. Ronél Hunter is a singer-songwriter and a mother of three. Originally from South Africa, Ronél played at the local folk festivals, before she settled in New Zealand in 2009, and married her Kiwi husband in 2011.

At the heart, Ronél is a storyteller. She has the ability to step into a song and to become a part of the story, as she takes the audience with her on a beautiful journey of discovering the heart behind each song. Ronél writes songs about real life and is a firm believer in being real and being yourself.

Some of Ronél's musical influences include Tracy Chapman, Dolly Parton, and Guy Clark to name but a few. Her focus is on the story a song has to tell and the emotion behind it, rather than sticking to a genre. In 2020 she released an album "Move at Will" and toured it around New Zealand as Covid permitted. With a growing fanbase, the audience will enjoy Ronél's take on life and her original songs.

Held at the Scottish Hall at 155 Bartholomew Rd, Levin, the doors open at 7pm and Ronél's concert begins at 7:30 pm. After a light supper, there is a blackboard for musicians to perform one song each and this part of the evening brings variety and some special surprises. Visitors are very welcome and encouraged to perform if there is room on the blackboard.
