By popular demand, Alice is stoked to host a second special Q&A screening with local actor Matthias Luafutu, who plays Tubs in the new Kiwi film 'Coming Home in the Dark'. This chilling new film is based on the short story by Timaru writer, Owen Marshall.

A family outing descends into terror when high school teacher Alan, his wife Jill and stepsons Maika and Jordon go exploring an isolated coastline. The family are thrust into a nightmare road trip when they find themselves captured by enigmatic psychopath Mandrake and his hulking man-child accomplice Tubs. At first this seems to be a random encounter, but as the night drags on Alan and Jill realize that this nightmare was set in motion 20 years earlier. As they approach their mysterious final destination Mandrake reveals the horrible secret driving his actions, leaving Alan to confront a questionable past before the sun rises.

Matthias has been building a career in acting since working with Jim Moriarty’s theatre group, Te Rakau. He has enjoyed roles in television and in films, including the television series Harry, working alongside Oscar Kightley and Sam Neill, and multiple award-winning New Zealand film, 'Shopping'. He was cast in the film 'Ghost in the Shell', starring Scarlett Johanssen in 2017.
