SPELADD presents three seminars on factors underlying learning and behaviour 27th, 28th and 29th April 2021 at the Grand Building, Palmerston North.

SPELADD is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in assessing, tutoring and mentoring for those with learning disabilities (including dyslexia, attention deficit disorders and high functioning autism), their Whānau and their schools.

At these seminars, we will teach attendees how to better identify and support those with Dyslexia / SLD / ADHD / ADD / High functioning ASD. The success of those with learning disabilities is reliant on the knowledge, philosophy and techniques of those who have input into their lives.

The SPELADD seminars provide practical alternatives for classroom teachers, teacher aides, parents and SENCOs and are an ideal professional development course.

Speakers will discuss how simple interventions can have immediate and profound effects, not just on learning, but on quality of life. The solutions presented at these seminars are simple and achievable. From sounding out words smoothly, left to right, to knowing how to recognise signs of visual disturbance, the tools are simple and effective.

SLDs do not disappear, but with early help many of the difficulties related to having SLDs can be reduced. If students with SLDs needs are not met, their ‘differences’ become ‘disabilities’.

For more information about the seminars, or the services SPELADD offers, please contact 06 3590495, email speladd@xtra.co.nz or visit www.speladd.org.nz

Applications can be made via the website, email or phone.

Applications to attend the seminar closes 2 pm Tuesday 20 April 2021.
