Join us for our January Sunday Movie Sessions, where we will be highlighting New Zealand Films, followed by fun facts and discussions prompts.

On Sundays 10, 17 and 24 we will be screening a feature film in our Whare Wānanga, level 2. We will be using the platform Beamafilm, which is available to use for free with your library membership.

Beanbags and comfy seats provided. Please note that while you are welcome to bring a water bottle into our Whare, we do not allow any other form of drink or food.

Our schedule is as follows:

Sunday 10 January - Daffodils: Leaving her dying father’s bedside, singer Maisie rushes to perform at an indie music gig in town. But as she sings the opening song, it’s hard for her to ignore the heartfelt story she’s just been told – the story of how her dad met and fell in love with her mother, and how it all devastatingly fell apart.

Sunday 17 January - The Weight of Elephants: 11 year old Adrian is struggling with his fears and anxieties since the disappearance of three kids in his small town. Then one day he meets Nicole, a mysterious, crazy, frightening, wonderful girl who moves in next door with her little sister and brother. They might just be everything Adrian ever wanted.

Sunday 24 January: The Changeover - In post-earthquake Christchurch, teenager Laura Chant cares for her younger brother Jacko while their mum is at work. After school one day Laura loses Jacko, only to find him playing in a pop-up shop filled with strange toys. The creepy old shop-owner, Carmody Braque gives Jacko a stamp on his hand and sends them on their way. Based on the book by Margaret Mahy.
