Do you love making creative things? Do you create amazing things in ceramics, photography, fashion, illustration, sculpture?

Do you want to share your passion with the world and maybe, just maybe one day, make a living doing what you love?
Don't know where to start? Is it all a bit overwhelming? We've all been there.

We're here to introduce the basics, put your mind at ease and show you that it's not all business pants and marketing jargon. This is an introductory seminar/workshop in the first series of four we have planned this year. It is part of the Studio Momentum’s project called make/shift in collaboration with the Assembly Point, Life in Vacant Spaces and Christchurch City Council and will be delivered at Assembly Point Pop Up Shop in August.

We will discuss the basics of setting up a professional creative practice. The idea is that you start where you are and go from there, doing as much or as little as you’re able, making small changes over time to build a thriving practice.

The workshop will briefly cover the following topics:
1 Brand
2 Story
3 Audience
4 Competition
5 Structure
6 Legal
7 Copyright
8 Ethics
9 Cultural awareness and appropriation
10 Systems and Processes

Materials: Bring a notebook and pen with you

We are extremely thankful for the support of Christchurch City Council’s Enliven Places Projects Fund, which has allowed us to offer this class at a subsidised rate, and Life in Vacant Spaces for supporting our amazing space!

Assembly Point is a 3 month pop-up in Cathedral Junction, 109 Worcester Street, Christchurch Central. We are located in shop 9/10, between the tram station and the barber shop! We are a collective of 40+ artisans from Christchurch as well as further afield in New Zealand. We have a shop space, workshop space and an artisan workspace in our lovely cosy little winter pop-up! Make sure to come check us out and say Hi!
