Who are the women behind the figures in the Cyclopedia? Discover THEIR stories!

Participate in this new project to illuminate the lives of the women alluded to in these historical biographies.

In this two-part workshop, Fiona Brooker, a professional genealogist for Memories in Time, will guide you through actively researching and writing their untold stories.

Day 1: Friday 8 October 2021, 7pm - 9pm
On Friday night, enjoy tea, coffee or a non-alcoholic bubbly, meet the other workshop participants, and have the opportunity to explore Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House in the evening. Then learn about the Cyclopedia, get tips on researching women and hear about the new project being launched to find the "hidden women".

Day 2: Saturday 9 October 2021, 10.15am - 12.15pm
On Saturday morning, meet at Tūranga and begin actively researching a woman from the Cyclopedia while developing your research skills using the library's resources and computers. The goal is to prepare and tell her story, which will be retained and stored in an accessible repository.

Tea, coffee, and alcohol-free bubbly on arrival on Friday evening.

There is no parking onsite at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, so please find a park in the surrounding streets or at the University of Canterbury's Clyde Carpark on Arts Road (free on weekends).

Wheelchair accessible, please call to book accessible car parking (limited spaces available onsite).
