The Leiermann Trio perform the Schubert Piano Trio no. 2, D. 929 in Eb major. They are Violinist Harris Leung, cellist Hyein Kim and pianist Jonathan Dunlop from the University of Waikato.
The Schubert Trio was completed in November 1827 and first performed in March 1828 at a private concert, a year to the day after Beethoven’s death. It shows Schubert at the height of his powers, running the gamut of expression from joyful affirmation to rapt meditation. It is a gigantic masterpiece that, with Beethoven's Archduke, could be considered among the few greatest piano trios in the traditional repertory.
