"A play about the ill-fated attempt by Nelson Colonists to confront Te Rauparaha and a party of his men at Tuamarina in 1843, in a dispute over ownership of the Wairau. The first major armed clash between Maori and Pakeha in New Zealand."
An open rehearsal of a few selected scenes from the play to be performed later this year. See the director Giles Burton, and cast, run through selected scenes and talk about the play with the writer, Justin Eade, and guests from Ngati Toa. (Note - this is not a full performance, but various scenes early on in the rehearsal process. Non costumed, and scripts in hand).
