'Interesting Places' presents The Subterranean Session
Elemental AKL
A series of intimate performances at Fortress Stony Batter, Waiheke Island.

As a part of Elemental Festival, Interesting Things presents Interesting Places: The Subterranean Sessions - a series of intimate performances at Fortress Stony Batter, Waiheke Island. As the days get shorter and the temperatures fall we’re heading underground to a coastal fortress on the eastern side of Waiheke Island to witness four of New Zealand’s most unique voices performing a series of intimate matinee shows.

Over the weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th July, Hollie Fullbrook (Tiny Ruins), Finn Andrews (The Veils), Deva Mahal and Delaney Davidson will be playing stripped back sets with voice and guitar or piano in the magazine chamber at Fortress Stony Batter - a beautifully reverberant space with a maximum capacity of 50 people. Stony Batter is a 1.2km network of subterranean tunnels, built under absolute secrecy during WW2. After 60 years the tunnels have recently been re-opened to the public; the subterranean sessions will be among the first musical performances in the space. Get a sneak peek at the space at

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience some of New Zealand’s most exciting talent in this unique historical space.
