This foundational acting workshop focuses on the foundational skills for the screen actor: embodied listening, emotional access, imaginative connection, and the actor’s “choices.”
Working from an embodied approach, you will touch on a variety of acting methodologies and begin to deepen your screen practice. Recommenced for beginners, or those wanting to refresh their connection to essential acting fundamentals.
About the tutor:
Vaughan Slinn is a Senior Acting Tutor and responsible for overseeing the screen programme at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School. His main areas of teaching are across Screen & Creative Practice, leading the development of increased screen presence within the curriculum, and being a core developer of Toi Film - an annual series of short films that now regularly reach international film festivals. Before that he has worked in the film and television industry for over 18 years as an actor, director, and in casting. His acting screen credits include Out Of The Blue, Facelift, Welcome To Paradise, Time Trackers, Paradise Cafe, and his theatre credits include Death and the Dreamlife of Elephants, Settling, & Meditations on Saddest Moon. In 2019 Vaughan completed a MA in Acting, investigating safer emotional practice in acting methodologies.
