Join us for an evening of virtual talks with hihi scientists from all over the world! Find out how science from researchers and conservation experts can be used to help protect the threatened hihi.
Hihi used to live in forests all over the North Island of New Zealand but are currently a Nationally Vulnerable species. Since 1980 people have been working hard to protect hihi and help the species back to its former glory. Thanks to those efforts, there are now 7 reintroduced populations in protected areas, made up of over 600 individuals! Our dream is to see this special bird thrive in their natural habitat once again, and science is crucial in helping us achieve this.
The subject of talks will range from ecology to genetics and will be accessible for anybody curious about science, conservation or hihi!
