*Under Level 2*

- For you to be able to experience the exhibition, please bring your smartphone and a pair of headphones. This will allow you to access the audio-stories.
- Sadly, we cannot host an opening ceremony, but keep your eyes peeled for the very special and invite-only closing ceremony announcement by liking our social media pages.
- Thank you so much for sticking with us. We cannot wait to share these incredible stories with you!

Ngā mihi,

Loren.

Please join us to inaugurate this special taonga. The event will be opened by Kāti Huirapa ki Puketeraki Rūnaka with a mihi whakatau. The artist Loren Pasquier will be present for this event as well as the special local wahine, Phyllis Smith, and her whānau. We would love to see you there.

Wāhine is a touring multi-media exhibition that amplifies Māori women’s voices around Aotearoa, offering our communities the opportunity to be enriched by their life stories while fostering mutual understanding.

Through personalised sound stories and portrait photography, Wāhine is an immersive exhibition inviting communities to come together, be inspired, and learn from the raw, honest, and vulnerable stories of Māori women.

The stories touch on their joys and inspirations, their troubles and tribulations, and the resilience that has moulded them into the women they are. The powerful words of each interview are woven together with real-life recordings captured by the women themselves and exhibited alongside a photography portrait of each wahine.

While it travels around Aotearoa, Wāhine expands each time it changes locations by inviting a wahine from a local iwi to join the kaupapa and hold space for the other women.

Here in Ōtepoti Dunedin, the special Phyllis Smith (Kāti Huirapa, Kāti Huirapa, Ruahikihiki, Hinetewai, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe, Kāi Tahu) will be joining the kaupapa and the exhibition's journey around the country.

By holding a sacred space for women to share their experiences, our hope is to inspire compassion in us all and ignite a wider sense of belonging, community, and togetherness.
